Brownies are the second youngest members of the GirlguidingUK. The section is designed for girls aged between 7 and 10 years old.
There are several Brownie units all over our division and all meet once a week for around one and a half hours. The Brownies work in groups called Sixes and participate in the Brownie programme, called Brownie Adventure. They get to take part in all sorts of activities such as craft, games, singing, cooking and other adventures that the Brownies can decide on themselves. Brownies also have badges that they can complete with subjects such as science investigator, seasons, Brownie camper and book lover!
One of the Special things about being a Brownie is going on a Pack Holiday which is a residential holiday which can last for a weekend or even a week! On these holidays a Brownie can take part in activities that they normally wouldn’t get to do in the unit (such as climbing, horseriding, archery and much more) and have fun with all her Brownie friends. Older Brownies may even get the chance to go on a camp and stay in tents!
There is a whole range of uniform for Brownies which can be bought from the North Tyneside depot in North Shields, online at Guiding Essentials or other locations that the leader will let you know about.
The Brownies all say a promise:
I promise that I will do my best:
To love my God,
To serve the Queen and my country,
To help other people
and to keep the Brownie Guide Law.
They also have to keep the Brownie Guide Law which is:
A Brownie Guide thinks of others before herself and does a good turn every day.
